Özet       :A management construct cannot be used effectively by practitioners and researchers if a common agreement on its definition is lacking. Such is the case with the term “supply chain management”—so many definitions are used that there is little consensus on what it means. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to examine the existing research in an effort to understand the concept of “supply chain management.” Various definitions of SCM and “supply chain” are reviewed, categorized, and synthesized. Definitions of supporting constructs of SCM and a framework are then offered to establish a consistent means to conceptualize SCM. Antecedents and consequences of SCM are identified, and the boundaries of SCM in terms of business functions and organizations are proposed. A conceptual model and unified definition of SCM are then presented that indicate the nature, antecedents, and consequences of the phenomena.

    ÖZET: The ability of organizations to effectively compete in the global marketplace is contingent on identifying and selecting an adequate number of qualified global managers. Nowhere is the shortage of managerial talent more evident than in the management of global supplychains. The complex and vexing set of problems facing global supplychain managers makes the task of selecting an adequate supply of managers much more daunting. Given the historic perspective of manning supplychain positions (i.e., managers with a operation and functional orientation), human resource managers are modifying and updating the profile of the global supplychain manager's position to encompass political, cultural/social, network, and an awareness of the significant differences to be found in global markets. In an effort to develop a criteria for the selection of global supplychain managers, a competency-based theoretical perspective is used and eight intelligences are examined that can be used in the selection of global supplychain managers.

    ÖZET:It is argued that due to construction peculiarities, supplychainmanagement has four specific roles in construction. Practical initiatives in each role to advance the construction supplychain are analysed. The present status of construction supplychains is investigated by means of case studies and a comparison with previous research. Three main conclusions are drawn regarding the present status. Firstly, even in normal situations the construction supplychain has a large quantity of waste and problems. Secondly, most of these are caused in another stage of the construction supplychain than when detected. Thirdly, waste and problems are largely caused by obsolete, myopic control of the construction supplychain. These results concur with the findings made on make-to-order supplychains in general. Finally, the subjective and objective limitations of the four roles are analysed, this being based on empirical findings and the generic theory of supplychainmanagement.

    ÖZET:To consolidate the enterprise's market position, it needs a powerful material supply chain to support the enterprise's development. However, the material supply cannot keep pace with the rapid speed of the construction of the most enterprises. To overcome this problem, this paper has presented a new management system of material supplies based on the modern Logistics supply chain theory for the enterprise material supply management. By the use of modern Logistics supply chain theory, the enterprise material supply can be formed as a powerful circle. This chain structure can help the Logistics cost reduction, and improve the enterprise's core competitiveness. The function design of the chain system components has been discussed. The analysis results show that the proposed management system could impel the development of the supply intensification strategy and provide theory and technology support to the advanced material supply management for enterprises. Thus, the proposed method has application importance.

    The purpose of this paper is to test whether third party logistics companies (3PLs) are different from other end-shippers with respect to how they choose their carriers. The results of carrier choice models developed in this paper suggest that 3PLs are more biased against intermodal shipping than other end-shippers. The principal conclusions are as follows: mode and carrier choice modeling needs to take into consideration differences between 3PLs and other end-shippers; and with the increasing role of 3PLs in choosing carriers, their stronger bias against intermodal shipping will present further challenges to increasing freight rail mode share.

    Özet: Supply chain management is a field at the confluence of many other disciplines; it has been studied under a number of perspectives, which has played a role for the crossbreeding of the discipline. In this paper, we propose a typology of supply chain configurations that contributes to tie together terms that have been used disjointedly for describing various forms of supply chain. It also enables researchers to develop theories related to the identified typology, rather than continue expanding efforts on separate, unconnected studies. The typology is configurational, consistent, and based on the correspondence (Sheppard and Sherman, 1998) between Fiske's theory of relational forms (1990) and the concept of interdependence, analyzed in the context of supply chain management. Our framework encompasses four main configurations – the communicative, coordinated, collaborative, and co-opetitive – and we refer to these as the 4 C's in supply chain management. We discuss the benefits of the proposed typology from managerial and research perspectives, and suggest some research extensions.

    Özet: This paper reviews current research on supply chain management (SCM) within the context of tourism. SCM in the manufacturing industry has attracted widespread research interest over the past two decades, whereas studies of SCM in the tourism industry are very limited. Stakeholders in the tourism industry interact with each other to resolve their divergent business objectives across different operating systems. The potential benefit of considering not only individual enterprises but also the tourism value chain becomes evident. The paper examines the characteristics of tourism products, and identifies and explores core issues and concepts in tourism supply chains (TSCs) and tourism supply chain management (TSCM). Although there is an emerging literature on TSCM or its equivalents, progress is uneven, as most research focuses on distribution and marketing activities without fully considering the whole range of different suppliers involved in the provision and consumption of tourism products. This paper provides a systematic review of current tourism studies from the TSCM perspective and develops a framework for TSCM research that should be of great value not only to those who wish to extend their research into this new and exciting area, but also to tourism and hospitality decision makers. The paper also identifies key research questions in TSCM worthy of future theoretical and empirical exploration.

    Özet: Extensive tourism developments and signals of the negative effects on destinations have put sustainability at the core of the business agenda. However, the fragmented structure of the tourism sector remains a key challenge for achieving consensus and developing coherent sustainable tourism strategies. Although supply chain strategies seem logically suitable for the interconnected nature of the tourism industry, there is limited discussion in tourism research about their adoption. In order to advance the knowledge of how sustainable tourism can become more of common practice, this article explores the adoption of environmental supply chain management (ESCM) by eight large tour operators. The results of the investigations show that in the absence of regulatory pressures and cost saving benefits, the adoption of ESCM is triggered by public pressures and its implementation is limited by organizational factors and strategic myopia.

The potential benefit of considering not only individual enterprises but also the tourism value chain becomes evident. The paper examines the characteristics of tourism products, and identifies and explores core issues and concepts in tourism supply chains (TSCs) and tourism supply chain management (TSCM). Although there is an emerging literature on TSCM or its equivalents, progress is uneven, as most research focuses on distribution and marketing activities without fully considering the whole range of different suppliers involved in the provision and consumption of tourism products. This paper provides a systematic review of current tourism studies from the TSCM perspective and develops a framework for TSCM research that should be of great value not only to those who wish to extend their research into this new and exciting area, but also to tourism and hospitality decision makers. The paper also identifies key research questions in TSCM worthy of future theoretical and empirical exploration.

    Abstract

    There can be little dispute that supply chain management is an area of importance in the field of management research, yet there have been few literature reviews on this topic (Bechtel and Mulumudi, 1996, Proceedings of the 1996 NAPM Annual Academic Conference; Harland, 1996, British Journal of Management 7 (special issue), 63–80; Cooper et al., 1997). This paper sets out not to review the supply chain literature per se, but rather to contribute to a critical theory debate through the presentation and use of a framework for the categorisation of literature linked to supply chain management. The study is based on the analysis of a large number of publications on supply chain management (books, journal articles, and conference papers) using a Procite© database from which the literature has been classified according to two criteria: a content- and a methodology-oriented criterion.

    The paper investigates the effects of relationship orientation in the logistics service provider–client interaction. A conceptual model is developed and six research hypotheses are empirically analysed using structural equation modelling. The results indicate that relationship orientation has a positive influence on key organisational capabilities, like organisational learning and innovation, promoting an improvement in supply chain effectiveness and performance.     Abstract

    This research concerns the reverse logistics systems in ferrous scrap of 12 North American manufacturing plants. It examines the role of purchasing and other functions in the reverse logistics system, and assesses the contribution made by the various departments. Purchasing played a significant role in managing reverse logistics activities at the plants in the study. Volume was found to significantly influence strategies and processes used by plants in their reverse logistics systems. A total of six volume-based approaches for managing ferrous scrap reverse networks are identified. The implications of each are discussed using case studies to highlight differences among the strategies.

    The advent of the “new economy”, embodied by the expansion of the Internet, has been thought by some to marginalize the importance of geography and space. Distances are reportedly irrelevant as markets are now just a click away. E-trade and the advent of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems provide firms with the tools they can use to free themselves of space. In fact, the Internet and ERP do change the relationship between firms and their space and their markets, but they do not abolish them: location choices are still important as is transportation. The need to transport quickly and efficiently, brought about by the expansion of E-trade, establishes transportation as the effort of mastering space. This has translated into the fast expansion of cargo airliners in logistics.

Rather than competing “firm versus firm,” today's organizations are battling “supply chain versus supply chain.” Within this context, best value supply chains are emerging as a means to create competitive advantages and superior performance. While traditional supply chains often focus primarily on one key outcome such as speed or cost, best value supply chains excel along an array of uniquely integrated priorities—cost, quality, speed, and flexibility. We describe how key organizational theories help to distinguish traditional supply chains from best value supply chains.     ÖZET: This study uses an empirical survey of middle-line managers in the US and Taiwan to study the association of supply chain management components and organizational performance. Through structural equation modeling, critical components of supply chain management are found to have considerable effects on organizational performance. The findings of the study are summarized as follows:


    Supply chain competencies have positive effects on organizational performance in both the US and Taiwan. Supply chain competencies are developed around quality and service, operations and distribution, and design effectiveness. The goal of supply chain competencies is to satisfy customer requirements.

    Supply chain practices, which are made up of supply chain features, integration, and customer services, have direct impact on organizational performance in Taiwan, but they have only indirect impact in the US.

    Supply chain practices and competencies are significantly associated in both the US and Taiwan. However,supply chain concerns and practices are associated in the case of the USA only.
    These results help middle-line managers in both the US and Taiwan to know which components and practices of supply chain management to focus on to improve organizational performance. They also show some of the similarities between the two regions and note differences that may be situation-dependent. However, what is measured here is the perception of middle-line managers. The actual practices may be different from these perceptions.

    ÖZET: This article examines the impact of inertia on the management of the firm's supply chain operations and the effects it can have on a produce-to-stock firm's ability to respond to external market pressure and develop corrective strategies. The research methodology used is based on earlier Catastrophe Modeling that looked at inertia in organizational design, competitive pressure, and competitive response. The model demonstrates how latent variables, such as customer pressure and supply chain inertia can influence a finished goods supply chain management's response under various conditions. The model was tested and validated using questionnaire data gathered from a sample of members of the Council of Logistics Management. The model was used to estimate individual finished goods firm inertia response estimates. We incorporate these estimates in a brief examination of three produce-to-stock firms from the sample to give readers an idea of the usefulness of the approach in examining supply chain inertia.

    Özet: This paper develops a balanced scorecard for supply chain management (SCM) that measures and evaluates day-to-day business operations from following four perspectives: finance, customer, internal business process, and learning and growth. Balanced scorecard has been developed based on extensive review of literature on SCM performance measures, supported by three case studies, each illustrating ways in which BSC was developed and applied in small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in India. The paper further suggests that a balanced SCM scorecard can be the foundation for a strategic SCM system provided that certain development guidelines are properly followed, appropriate metrics are evaluated, and key implementation obstacles are overcome. The balanced scorecard developed in this paper provides a useful guidance for the practical managers in evaluation and measuring of SCM in a balanced way and proposes a balanced performance measurement system to map and analyze supply chains. While suggesting balanced scorecard, different SCM performance metrics have been reviewed and distributed into four perspectives. This helps managers to evaluate SCM performance in a much-balanced way from all angles of business.

    Abstract:This paper presents a supernetwork equilibrium model integrating supply chain networks with a transport network, namely, a supply chain-transport supernetwork equilibrium model.     Abstract:JIT (Just-In-Time) programs have had a positive impact on manufacturing and service processes, and the success has also altered the transportation industry. Thus, as a vital part of the supply chain, transportation and logistics must be integrated in order for JIT benefits to be maximized. The ability to meet exact production schedules under JIT becomes a key selling feature for transportation companies. Companies must decide which transportation mode or multimodal combination is the most cost effective and reliable in order to deliver goods to the manufacturing facility as well as to the customer as quickly and cost-effectively as possible. Collaborative systems link planning and forecasting with integrated transportation and logistics, along with technological advances, including satellite shipment tracking and on-board messaging. These continue to improve real-time communications, making technology an integral element of all transportation modes. The industry has changed from one that merely delivers goods to one that must provide enhanced, bundled logistics services and support to its customers. Transporters must continually change business practices in order to better meet JIT production schedules and remain competitive.

    ÖZET:Tedarik Zinciri Yönetimi (TZY) bir ürünün arzında çeşitli roller üstlenmiş firmaların kendilerine özgü yeteneklerinin ve kritik iş süreçlerinin tedarik zinciri boyunca bütünleşik yönetimi yoluyla performansı arttırmayı, yapısal ve operasyonel belirsizliği azaltmayı ve sonuç olarak şirketler arası rekabetten tedarik zincirleri arası rekabete geçmeyi hedefleyen yeni bir stratejik çalışma modelidir. Bu çalışmanın amacı TZY uygulamaları ve örgütsel yapının yerinden yönetim, formel performans kontrolü, uzmanlaşma ve bütünleşme boyutları arasındaki kavramsal ilişkiyi incelemek ve test etmektir. Bulguların TZY uygulamalarını gerçekleştirmek isteyen işletme yöneticilerine örgütsel yapıyı düzenleme konusunda yardımcı olacağı düşünülmektedir.

Tour operators can significantly influence and promote sustainable tourism development due to their central distribution role and capability to direct tourists to destinations and suppliers. Despite the emerging role of SCM and sustainability, the applicability of SCM practices in tourism is not studied yet. This paper adapts and illustrates the value of using SCM concepts within tour operators' business for integrating sustainability into tourism supply chains. After reviewing the literature in SC management and collaboration, a model for implementing sustainable SCM is proposed and its applicability is shown by analysing the case of TUI. The implications of the model and the case study are discussed.

    ÖZET: Bu çalışmada, yük taşımacılığında kullanıcıların taşıma türü seçimi kararlarının
    modellenmesi amacıyla stokastik seçim modellerinden logit model kullanılmıştır. Yük
    taşımacılığı sistemi lojistik zincir kapsamında ele alınmış, lojistik maliyet modeline göre
    analiz yapılmıştır. Model kalibrasyonu, çok değişkenli istatistiksel analiz yöntemlerinden
    lojistik regresyon analizi ile yapılmıştır. Analizde, Antalya iline kamyon ve kombine
    taşımacılık (karayolu ve demiryolu) ile yapılan seramik taşımacılığının verileri
    kullanılmıştır. En yüksek tahmin başarımına sahip olduğu belirlenen model, lojistik
    maliyete dayalı logit tür seçim modeli olarak seçilmiştir. Seçilen model kullanılarak yapılan
    duyarlılık analizleri sonucunda, yük taşımacılığı tür seçimi kararında etkili başlıca karar
    değişkenlerinin taşıma maliyeti ve süresi ile aktarma gecikmesi olduğu belirlenmiştir.
    Seçilen taşıma koridorunda, kombine taşımacılık tercihinin arttırılması için ne tür
    politikalar geliştirilmesi gerektiği araştırılmıştır.

    ÖZET: Bu çalışmada kısaca lojistik ve işletmelere sağladığı faydalar, temel lojistik faaliyetler ve amaçlarından bahsedilmiştir. Dünya’da lojistik
    sektörünün durumuna değinilmiş ve bununla birlikte lojistik faaliyetlerin sera gazları(karbon v.s.) salınımı gibi bazı yan etkileri, bu açıdan karbon
    ticareti ve karbon vergisi gibi karbon salınımını azaltıcı yaptırımlar, AB ulaştırma politikası ve bu kapsamda Beyaz Kitaplara değinilmiş ve Marco
    Polo Programı anlatılmıştır.
    Türkiye çevresel sürdürülebilirliğin sağlanabilmesi için gerekenleri yapmakta geç kalmaktadır. Lojistik sektörü kendisini bu yeniliklere
    uyarlamakta, devlet ise AB müktesebatına uyumlu hale gelmekte ve bu yolda gelecek tahminleri yapıp projeler hazırlamakta önemli eksiklikler
    içindedir. Burada özellikle, lojistik faaliyetler yerine getirilirken ortaya çıkan bazı çevresel sorunlar ve bunların çözümü için dünyada ve AB’de ortaya
    konulan politikaların farkındalığının oluşturulması amaçlanmış ve Türkiye’nin bu politikalara eklemlenmesi adına bazı önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

    Abstract:JIT (Just-In-Time) programs have had a positive impact on manufacturing and service processes, and the success has also altered the transportation industry. Thus, as a vital part of the supply chain, transportation and logistics must be integrated in order for JIT benefits to be maximized. The ability to meet exact production schedules under JIT becomes a key selling feature for transportation companies. Companies must decide which transportation mode or multimodal combination is the most cost effective and reliable in order to deliver goods to the manufacturing facility as well as to the customer as quickly and cost-effectively as possible. Collaborative systems link planning and forecasting with integrated transportation and logistics, along with technological advances, including satellite shipment tracking and on-board messaging. These continue to improve real-time communications, making technology an integral element of all transportation modes. The industry has changed from one that merely delivers goods to one that must provide enhanced, bundled logistics services and support to its customers. Transporters must continually change business practices in order to better meet JIT production schedules and remain competitive.

    ÖZET: Tarih öncesi çağlardan bu yana varlığını sürdüren lojistik, işletme kavramı olarak li-
    teratürde yerini yeni almasına rağmen kapsam ve tanımında sürekli değişimler geçirmiştir.
    Müşteri istek ve ihtiyaçlarını karşılamayı hedefleyen lojistik; küreselleşme, ilerleyen tek-
    noloji ve artan tüketici bilinci ile şekillenen dinamik bir sektör haline gelmiştir. Bu durum
    işletmeleri, yenilikleri yakından takip etmeye zorlamaktadır.
    Bu çalışmada, lojistik firmalarının, faaliyetlerin de elektronik uygulamalar kullanmasıyla
    birlikte başarılarının ne derecede etkilendiğinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma üç
    ana bölümden oluşmaktadır. İlk bölümde lojistik kavramı, önemi, yönetim ve faaliyetleri;
    sonraki bölümde ise kısaca e-ticaretten bahsedilerek, e-lojistik faaliyetleri, yazılımları ve
    uygulamaları açıklanmıştır. Son bölümde, e-lojistik uygulayan Türkiye’nin öncü lojistik iş-
    letmelerine, çalışmanın amaçlarına uygun olarak elektronik posta yoluyla kapsamlı bir an-
    ket uygulaması yapılmıştır. Toplanan veriler değerlendirilip elde edilen bilgiler ve öneriler

    Eskişehir tramvay sistemi (Estram) örneğinde, Binomial Lojistik Regresyon Analizi ile
    incelenmektedir. İki üniversiteye sahip olan Eskişehir’de öğrenci nüfusun fazla olması ve tramvay
    için önemli bir yolcu kitlesi olacakları düşüncesiyle çalışma, her iki üniversiteden basit tesadüfî
    örnekleme yoluyla seçilen 300 öğrenci üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Öğrencilerin memnuniyetleri
    ile ilgili binomial düzeyde, gizil bir değişken kullanılmıştır. Uygulanan Binomial Lojistik Regresyon
    Analizi sonucunda; öğrencilerin Estram’dan memnuniyetleri üzerinde modele alınan tüm bağımsız
    değişkenlerin negatif etkileri olduğu belirlenmiştir.

    Türkiye coğrafi konumu itibariyle Ortadoğu, Türk Cumhuriyetleri ve Avrupa
    arasında bir aktarma merkezi oluĢturmasından kaynaklanan avantajlı konuma
    sahiptir. Ancak bu konumunu ekonomik geliĢmeye ve ticaret hacmine
    yansıtamamaktadır. Bunun tabi ki çok fazla sebebi vardır ama lojistik açıdan
    bakıldığında karayolu ve demiryolu projelerinin hayata geçirilmesinde gecikme,
    ayrıca hava ve deniz yolu limanlarının gücünü arzu edilen seviyede
    kullanamaması da büyük etkendir.
    Bu çalıĢmada lojistik kavramı, türleri ve lojistik sektörünün tarihine
    değinildikten sonra, Türkiye‟de lojistik sektörü anlatılmıĢtır. Ayrıca çalıĢmamızda
    Avrupa Birliği‟ne yeni üye olan ülkelerden Romanya ve Macaristan‟ın lojistik
    sektörü de Türkiye ile karĢılaĢtırmalı olarak değerlendirilmiĢtir.

    Abstract:A third of a century ago, management guru Peter Drucker called logistics the last great unexplored continent of business. This is no longer true. While transportation is the largest component of logistics, ordering costs, carrying costs, warehousing costs, and administrative costs are nontrivial. Corporations and academics now have departments to handle the logistics functions. Transportation has been subsumed, in many cases, by these broader departments. Managing the supply chain-from raw material assembly, to work in progress, to the physical distribution of the final product or service-is the essence of business logistics. The field has its quantitative side, with many models that minimize costs and maximize profits. A growing area is the qualitative side, which emphasizes management awareness of the logistics chain.

    Abstract:Practitioners and educators have variously addressed the concept of supply chain management (SCM) as an extension of logistics, the same as logistics, or as an all-encompassing approach to business integration. Based on a review of the literature and management practice, it is clear that there is a need for some level of coordination of activities and processes within and between organizations in the supply chain that extends beyond logistics. We believe that this is what should be called SCM. This article proposes a conceptual model that provides guidance for future supply chain decision-making and research.

    Abstract
    It is argued that due to construction peculiarities, supply chain management has four specific roles in construction. Practical initiatives in each role to advance the construction supply chain are analysed. The present status of construction supply chains is investigated by means of case studies and a comparison with previous research. Three main conclusions are drawn regarding the present status. Firstly, even in normal situations the construction supply chain has a large quantity of waste and problems. Secondly, most of these are caused in another stage of the construction supply chain than when detected. Thirdly, waste and problems are largely caused by obsolete, myopic control of the construction supply chain. These results concur with the findings made on make-to-order supply chains in general. Finally, the subjective and objective limitations of the four roles are analysed, this being based on empirical findings and the generic theory of supply chain management.

    (1) disaster-affected area grouping, and (2) relief co-distribution. Numerical studies with a real large-scale earthquake
    disaster occurring in Taiwan are conducted, and the corresponding results indicate the applicability of the proposed
    method and its potential advantages. We hope that this study can not only make the proposed emergency logistics system
    available with more benefits to the development of emergency logistics systems for the urgent needs of disaster areas

    Sherman, 1998) between Fiske’s theory of relational forms (1990) and the concept of interdependence, analyzed in the context of
    supply chain management. Our framework encompasses four main configurations – the communicative, coordinated,
    collaborative, and co-opetitive – and we refer to these as the 4 C’s in supply chain management. We discuss the benefits
    of the proposed typology from managerial and research perspectives, and suggest some research extensions.

    ABSTRACT: Based on the phenomenon of Efficient Consumer Response (ECR), the nature of Supply Chain Management (SCM) is conceptualized from a channel governance point of view. The theoretical typology of interfirm governance, introduced by Heide [1], is applied. While ECR gains in importance for retailing business practice, few theoretical explanations for the effectiveness of ECR and SCM have been put forth. It is suggested that there is a need to conceptually capture the fundamental structure and processes for an effective relationship to exist between manufacturers and resellers. This is even more so given the importance of logistics integration into the marketing realm of channel management to successfully implement these critical systems. Once the theoretical precepts are discussed, a preliminary case study is presented and is based primarily on qualitative research—both secondary and primary data—accumulated from various ECR working groups within Europe and with greater emphasis on the Austrian ECR initiative.

    ABSTRACT: A management construct cannot be used effectively by practitioners and researchers if a common agreement on its definition is lacking. Such is the case with the term supply chain management - so many definitions are used that there is little consensus on what it means. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to examine the existing research in an effort to understand the concept of supply chain management. Various definitions of SCM and supply chain are reviewed, categorized, and synthesized. Definitions of supporting constructs of SCM and a framework are then offered to establish a consistent means to conceptualize SCM. Antecedents and consequences of SCM are identified, and the boundaries of SCM in terms of business functions and organizations are proposed. A conceptual model and unified definition of SCM are then presented that indicate the nature, antecedents, and consequences of the phenomena.

    ABSTRACT: GSVP programs are not one-shot, quickfix deals. They work best as continuous improvement programs. In fact, Aberdeen notes there is a widening gap between Best-in-Class performers and Industry Average and Laggard performers the longer the program is in place - in other words, the more mature the program, the more value the program delivers. Programs in place for one year were found to yield similar results for Best-in-Class companies versus all others. More Best-in-Class enterprises have had a GSVP program in place for more than five years in comparison to all others (72% vs. 58%).

    Aberdeen cautions that the long-term outlook for GSVP program success requires a very disciplined approach. It recommends that supplier programs represent the entire enterprise. The optimal process is one which is aligned and standardized company-wide. However, it's not easy to get there. When examining four different functional segments of GSVP - supplier collaboration, supplier costing, supplier performance measurement and supplier visibility - at best, only 30% of the respondents to the Aberdeen study had a process which was standardized and aligned company wide.

    For all the information noted above and shared with suppliers, Aberdeen noticed an interesting trend: other than capacity trends, the number of Best-in-Class enterprises which shared this information greatly outnumbered the number of Industry Average and Laggard companies who shared this information. On average, 35% more Best-in-Class companies shared information than Industry Average and Laggards. Yet the number of Industry Average and Laggard companies which shared the above information with 50% of their suppliers exceeded the number of Best-in-Class companies doing so.
